E-mail - Mail Merge from TeleMagic Internet Mail

Question: Why do I have both the "Contacts" and "Contacts with Merge" option in TeleMagic Internet Mail?

Answer: This tip should help clarify the function of the Contacts and Contacts with Merge tabs in the Select Recipient dialog box. Both of these pages require that an e-mail key field be set up in the databases that you intend to use with e-mail.

Contacts
· If you are not logged into TeleMagic, this page will not appear in the Select Recipients dialog box. You do not need to have TeleMagic running.
· Use this page to send e-mail to any contact in your TeleMagic databases. When you select a recipient using this page, it does not link the message to the selected contact, and the message will not appear in the e-mail rollup for that contact. It does not stamp the notepad or create an activity.
· The message can be queued to the Automation Server or sent locally.

Contacts with Merge
· If you are not logged into TeleMagic, this page will not appear in the Select Recipients dialog box. You do not need to have TeleMagic running.
· Use this page to send e-mail to the current contact, to any other individual contact, or to all contacts in a filter.
· If you want to attach merge documents to a message, you must select the recipients from this page, or link the message to a contact by selecting Link from the TeleMagic menu.
· When recipients are selected from this page, the e-mail must be processed through the Automation Server.
· If you do not have TeleMagic running, or if you have TeleMagic running but you do not have a database open, you will not be able to select Current Contact or Filter.
· Selecting recipients from this page associates the e-mail message with the contact record(s). This means that the notepad of the contact will be stamped and an activity created if you have selected those options on the Automation Server page in E-mail Preferences. The message is not "linked" to the contact-it will not appear in the e-mail rollup for the contact. To link a message to a contact, you must select Link from the TeleMagic menu.
· Only one filter or individual contact can be selected from this page, and the filter or individual contact can only be entered in the To: field. You can put an unlimited number of recipients in the CC: and BCC: fields in addition to addressing the message to a filter or contact using this page.
