Keyboard
Shortcuts
For
those who prefer to use the keyboard rather than the mouse, here
are a couple of tricks you can use for more easily navigating
the Contact Manager:
·
Use the Alt key plus the 1, 2, or 3 key for a quick way to change
to a different database level. For example, Alt+2 will take you
to Level 2.
·
Use the Alt key plus the left or right arrow key to move through
records one at a time on the current database level.
·
To open a menu bar, hold down the Alt key and type the underlined
letter in the menu name (also known as the "hot key"). For example,
Alt+C will open the Contact menu.
·
To issue a menu bar command, just type the underlined letter in
the selection. For example, after using Alt+C to open the Contact
menu, type the letter U to open the Contact Utilities submenu.
· When in edit mode on a record, use the Tab key to move through
the fields according to the input order, or use Shift+Tab to move
in the reverse direction. The up and down arrow keys can also
be used for this.
·
To move the cursor out of a memo field, use Ctrl+Tab or Shift+Tab.
Ctrl+Tab will move to the next field in the input order, while
Shift+Tab will move to the previous field in the input order.
· When the cursor is in a date field, use the '+' key to move
the date forward in the field one day at a time, and use the '-'
key to move the date back one day at a time.
·
When a check box is highlighted, use the spacebar to mark or unmark
it.
